Let’s Talk Jewelry

If you’re like me, jewelry is a huge part of your wardrobe. Whether it’s a stack of bracelets, layered necklaces, a super bulky statement ring, or all three, jewelry is my favorite part of my outfits. I’m going to share with you some of my style tips and brands to look into if you are trying to get into the jewelry game!

We all know the iconic jewelers like Cartier, Harry Winston, and Van Clief & Arpels, but as college students, those are a bit out of our price range! Although I would love to tell you to go to these places and splurge, and I know if I could I would too, there are some affordable brands that can deliver the same look without the gut-wrenching price tag.

The first brand that I want to talk about is Roxanne Assoulin. RA is a jewelry designer based out of New York. If you love a lot of color, this is the brand for you. They are best known for their color-blocking bracelets. They are super easy to stack and really bring a fun pop to a casual outfit.

They are on the pricier side going anywhere from $75-$250. I personally think they are well worth the investment. They also have great necklaces and fun statement earrings!

If you are more into gold and silver rather than color, one brand that I recommend is Enewton Designs. This brand is based out of Atlanta and is super reliable with amazing pieces. Their jewelry is gold-plated and does not tarnish. I have worn them in the pool, ocean, and shower, and there has been no discoloration. This is a great brand for every day jewelry with their simple gold and silver pieces that are stackable and easy to wear!

My love for a chunky ring will never waver, and there is one brand that I can always count on for the best rings. La Manso is a Spanish jewelry company that makes plastic rings in all sorts of colors. You may have seen them on Miley Cyrus in her “Midnight Sky” music video. When I heard about this brand, I immediately went to the website to order one. They are upwards of $75 but well worth it. I had originally ordered one ring and it was simple but when my order came in the mail, it had been mixed up with someone else’s, so I ended up with three rings instead of one. They were out of my comfort zone at first but now, I wear them all the time!

Obviously, I can go on and on about amazing brands, but the real treasures can be found in places you may not expect. Some of my favorite pieces of jewelry were found in vintage shops and thrift stores. One piece that I found in an antique shop was a champagne gold cuff bracelet with a tie in the middle. It was so out of my comfort zone, but it ended up being one of my favorite pieces in my collection. There are so many rare pieces you can find that you may not see anywhere else, and that is my favorite part about vintage jewelry! There is always a cool story behind a piece and now you have a chance to write your own. Plus, it’s contributing to the sustainability movement!

This may be a far stretch for many, and I am so lucky to be able to have this, but finding a private jeweler who can make you custom pieces or find you vintage jewelry is a very wise investment and, in my opinion, a very smart move. You can have pieces no one else may have and possibly for a lower price than retail. My family uses a jeweler by the name of Nicolaas Alexander. He has made multiple pieces for my family including my mom’s wedding and engagement ring, multiple necklaces for my family and me, and so much more. These are pieces that you will not find anywhere else and have so much sentimental value. Finding someone like that is such a good idea if you really want to get into high jewelry or if you just want to have real, custom pieces for your collection.

My final words of advice to you are do not be afraid to be bold with your jewelry. An understated outfit with an overstated set of jewelry is always the best way to go!
